Touch Africa is a Section 21 Company (Company registration: 2007/024885/08) and a registered NPO whose main focus is on children.
Touch Africa forms an integral part of the Red Cherry Family and is headed up Mike Glover, the founder of the Red Cherry Brand. Mike on returning to Port Elizabeth in 2000 felt the need to leverage his and Red Cherry’s business contacts and “start to make a difference.”
The mission is to:
- Work for those less privileged, restore the dignity of children by making school a better place than home
- Provide self sustaining achievable projects which will ultimately change children’s’ lives.
Touch Africa has already taken on various forms of assistance across South Africa.
This includes:
- Electrifying a crèche with the use of solar power
- Providing jungle gym equipment
- Bringing education to those less mobile than others
- Providing educational equipment
- Refurbishing school transport
- Fixing classrooms without windows or adequate flooring
- Installing desks and chairs
- Doing a complete make-over of a rural crèche
- Initiating a self sustaining fund raising project through the medium of a “rural movie house”
- Providing a mobile kitchen
- Providing schools and villages with “lifestraws” - a device to purify contaminated water which, in turn, is helping to
- save thousands of lives.
