Red Cherry Media produces MNet Cares for Bonitas Medical Fund

Red Cherry Media, together with their NPO and Section 21 registered - Touch Africa, MNet Cares and Bonitas Medical Fund have assisted yet another worthy cause.
The Transkei is one of the most impoverished regions in South Africa.
Touch Africa identified Mogotwane Junior Secondary School, situated close to Willovale as being a deserving recipient of assistance.
The school was made up entirely of mud huts and the exemplary headmaster had been battling for many years to provide education in the appalling conditions.
With the imminent threat of the entire school being demolished and the children having to walk an extra 8km – 10km a day to get to another school, Bonitas Medical Fund took up opportunity to fund the building of a new classroom.
The generous donation from Bonitas Medical Fund has enabled learners to get an education in a suitable classroom.
The MNet Cares platform on MNet & DStv enabled us to give Bonitas Medical Fund some extra value in the form of TV exposure of the project.
The donation from the sponsor assists with covering Empowerdex requirements and a Section 18a tax certificate is provided.
The school still needs a further four classrooms to ensure that they can remain as a functioning school in the district of Willovale.

Red Cherry Media produces a MNet Cares show for Sanlam

Red Cherry Media, together with their NPO and Section 21 registered company - Touch Africa, are pioneering the notion of “getting the marketing department to talk to the CSI department”.
Today CSI does not need to be carried out as a quiet philanthropic effort. It is fast becoming a marketing tool for donors who see the value in broadening their reach through non-traditional advertising spend, to encompass the companies CSI efforts.

Red Cherry Media together with Touch Africa and media partner MNet are now able to offer CSI projects that become part of the MNet Cares platform, giving the sponsors the added value of receiving television exposure. This is truly a win-win situation as so many corporate boxes are ticked.
CSI spend covers the Empowerdex requirements, financial managers receive the Section 18a tax certificate break, the marketing department reaps the reward of getting television exposure and the neediest of communities are benefitting from corporate investment.
During 2010 four major projects were rolled out under the MNet Cares banner, one of which was the MNet Cares Elmor Primary School project sponsored by Sanlam.
Situated in the dry and dusty town of Willomore, the Elmor Primary School has an enrolment of 1200 learners. Many of these young children had to walk up to 8km per day to and from school in extreme heat or cold. Exhausted by the time they got to school children found it hard to concentrate and parents worried about their safety on the journey to and from school. The school had an old bus that had not been operative for many years due to a lack of funding to restore it. The school budget was straining under the pressure of having to pay in excess of R30 000 a year to transport children to extra-mural activities including visiting other schools in the area to take part in sporting activities.
Sanlam stepped-in to provide the CSI donation and today, the children are being transported safely in their refurbished bus whilst the principal is able to re-direct the money to other needs.

Red Cherry Media produces an MNet Cares show for Lasher Tools

Red Cherry Media, together with their NPO and Section 21 registered company - Touch Africa and MNet Cares teamed up with Lasher Tools to transform the sporting facilities of a school in need.
In Port Elizabeth in the township of Walmer the John Masiza Primary School was in desperate need of sporting facilities. The children were playing in the dusty streets of the urban township and many talented netball players at the school had nowhere to practice their skills and could not host visiting schools for netball matches.
Together with MNet Cares and Lasher Tools, the school grounds have been totally transformed.
There is now a netball court which is being enjoyed not only by the school children but the community at large.
The soccer field has been rehabilitated and a grandstand erected for spectators.
The excitement on the day of the handover was palpable. The children themselves expressed it best saying “we are so happy, now we do not need to be ashamed anymore, we can invite other schools to come and play matches here”.

Through the MNet Cares partnership with Red Cherry Media, we are now able to offer CSI sponsors the added value of receiving television exposure. This is truly a win-win situation.
This is just another 1 of the major projects rolled out under the MNet Cares banner in 2010.

MNet Cares produces a MNet Cares show for KFC – Add Hope (CSI)
Red Cherry Media, their NPO and Section 21 registered company - Touch Africa, MNet Cares and KFC Add Hope came together to assist a crèche in desperate need of help.
In the tiny village of Storms River, the story of the Ilitha Educare Centre reads like a story from a fairytale.
A dedicated Montesorri trained teacher, was taking care of the children in a tiny tin shack without light, heating, a play area or any necessary equipment. The roof was leaking, there was only one tiny window and the floor was bare earth.
Today, she stands proud in the new building, sponsored by KFC ADD HOPE.
The community in the little village of Storms River, banded together to assist with installing a vegetable garden, grassed play areas and perimeter fencing. The children now play safely in the fresh air; enjoy a warm, bright inviting classroom as well as being provided with two meals a day, thanks to KFC Add Hope.
MNet Cares provided the platform on TV, and airtime on MNet & DStv was given to showcase the make-over.
For the donation that KFC Add Hope gave, they received a Section 18a tax certificate and covered their Empowerdex requirements.
CSI does not need to be carried out as a quiet philanthropic effort. It is fast becoming a marketing tool for donors who see the value in broadening their reach through non-traditional advertising spend, to encompass the companies CSI efforts.
